Dakota Communications Partners with Jimmy Blackman & Associates
Notable Clients to Join Newly Created Firm
After spending 16 years serving at the highest levels of City and State government, Jimmy Blackman has decided to form his own company – Jimmy Blackman & Associates – and has announced a partnership with Dakota Communications to provide public affairs and governmental relations services in the Los Angeles region.
Since forming his own company less than one month ago, Jimmy Blackman has already secured several high profile, well established clients including the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC), Local 112, Panda Express and the Panda Restaurant Group, the Delson Investment Company, and the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites. These clients will serve as the foundation for Jimmy Blackman’s newly created and rapidly expanding public affairs firm.

A native of Los Angeles, Jimmy Blackman received his bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Stanford University where he was a four year Dean’s List Honor Athlete and earned his Masters Degree in Public Policy from the University of Southern California where he was an Academic Merit Scholarship Award Recipient and graduated with honors.
From 1997 through 2013, Jimmy served in a number of high profile roles in State and City government including as Chief of Staff to Los Angeles City Councilmembers Antonio Villaraigosa and Dennis Zine, Chief of Staff to State Senator Richard Alarcon, and Deputy Chief of Staff to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
While serving as Deputy Chief of Staff in Mayor Villaraigosa’s office, Jimmy served as the second in command in the Mayor’s office overseeing a number of Mayoral priorities and having key decision making roles in legislative issues related to labor relations, the Airport, DWP, public safety, the city budget, and intergovernmental affairs.
